Softball Game Preview: The Classical Academy Titans vs. Sand Creek Scorpions

The Classical Academy is 8-2 against Sand Creek since October of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Titans will be playing at home against the Scorpions at 3:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Friday, The Classical Academy came up short against Widefield and fell 5-2.

Ada Wilson put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Wilson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Taytum Kimbro, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Sand Creek fell victim to Elizabeth and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 12-0 to the Cardinals.

Sand Creek's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for The Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.

Sand Creek's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. The Classical Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Sand Creek, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will The Classical Academy keep running through batters, or will the Scorpions buck the trend?

Everything went The Classical Academy's way against Sand Creek when the teams last played on September 11th, as The Classical Academy made off with an 11-0 victory. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Scorpions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
