Winder-Barrow is 8-2 against Apalachee since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Apalachee Wildcats at 5:55 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Winder-Barrow took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Habersham Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Winder-Barrow narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Habersham Central 2-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldoggs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Apalachee entered their tilt with Clarke Central on Friday with four consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Gladiators.

Apalachee's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Russell Malcom, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple was Malcom's first of the season.

The victory got Apalachee back to even at 7-7. As for Winder-Barrow, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-5.

Winder-Barrow beat Apalachee 3-0 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Winder-Barrow have another victory up their sleeve, or will Apalachee turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
