Basketball Recap: West Point-Beemer Cadets vs. Arlington Eagles
West Point-Beemer unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arlington Eagles on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the Cadets' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
West Point-Beemer's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Bruning, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 12 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Doggett, who posted 11 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arlington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emme Timm, who went 8-for-20 on her way to 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Timm has posted since back in January. Hayley Arp was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.
Coming up, West Point-Beemer will challenge Stanton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arlington, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-54 win against Lakeview on the 6th.
