Softball Recap: Lewis-Palmer Comes Up Short

Lewis-Palmer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss. They came up short against the Lutheran Lions, falling 18-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-7 back in September.

Drew Capps made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mady Folph, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lewis-Palmer's defeat dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Lutheran, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

Coming up, Lewis-Palmer will venture away from home to challenge Coronado at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Rangers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lutheran, they will host Air Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Kadets have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season.
