Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Lions vs. Dublin Gaels

Liberty is 0-4 against Dublin since December of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Liberty Lions will take on the Dublin Gaels at 3:00 p.m.

Liberty is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They lost 72-51 to Freedom. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered against the Falcons since February 2, 2022.

Meanwhile, Dublin entered their tilt with Granada on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Matadors 69-42. Given the Gaels' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Matadors are ranked 391st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dublin is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which somehow still isn't as good as their 17-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.

Liberty came up short against Dublin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 44-33. Can Liberty avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
