Basketball Recap: Troy Beats Jersey Shore for Their 12th Straight Win

Troy had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Saturday. They walked away with a 57-48 win over the Jersey Shore Bulldogs. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 57-32 loss the last time these two teams met.

Troy had a senior duo take command as Kailyn Sterling went 9-for-13 on her way to 23 points and six rebounds and Alyssa Parks dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 boards. Sterling continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Giana Renzi, who posted ten points.

Troy was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jersey Shore only racked up five assists.

Despite the loss, Jersey Shore still got an impressive performance from Peyton Dincher, who had 30 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Dincher is becoming a predictor of Jersey Shore's success: when she posts at least 15 points the team is 13-2 (and 2-3 when she doesn't). Cailyn Schall was another key player, going 6-for-13 en route to 13 points.

Troy's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points over those games. As for Jersey Shore, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.

Troy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 46-34 win against Wellsboro on the 11th. As for Jersey Shore, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-51 loss against Loyalsock Township on the 10th.
