Softball Recap: Highland Wins Going Away Against Macon

It was a proper cat-fight when Highland faced off against Macon on Tuesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Highland let Malia Thomas and Delilah Megee run wild. Thomas went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Megee went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Thomas a new career-high. Akyrah Lewis also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Highland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Highland pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Macon, they moved to 5-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Highland will take on Elsberry at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Macon, they will face off against Chillicothe at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
