The Chugiak Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Dimond Lynx at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chugiak is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Chugiak's last matchup with Service could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Saturday. The Mustangs came up short against the Cougars, falling 18-4. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Logan Salle was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Dimond faced Bartlett in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Lynx were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Golden Bears. The Lynx might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Caleb Cooke was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in June of 2025. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs.
In other batting news, Dimond got a big performance out of Jaden Estigo, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Severson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Dimond always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartlett only posted an OBP of .286.
Chugiak's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 13-3. As for Dimond, their record now sits at 10-6.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Chugiak has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .494. However, it's not like Dimond struggles in that department as they've averaged .454. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Chugiak's way against Dimond in their previous matchup back in April, as Chugiak made off with an 11-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
