Soccer Game Preview: Castaic vs. Saugus

The Castaic Coyotes will venture away from home to square off against the Saugus Centurions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Castaic took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Canyon a 3-0 shutout. Given the Coyotes' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Cowboys are ranked 577th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pyper Ormes and Morgan Griffy scored all three of Castaic's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, everything went Saugus' way against Golden Valley on Tuesday as Saugus made off with an 8-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Centurions.

Saugus is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those six games. As for Castaic, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
