Softball Recap: Bryan Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Bryan's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Burke Bulldogs 13-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bears' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Nat Arens made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Arens was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Polsey, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Gyana Ellis was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Bryan's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-21. As for Burke, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-17.

Bryan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Burke, they will head out to square off against Omaha Central at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
