Recap: Imperial Tigers vs. Central Spartans
Make it nine blowout wins for the Imperial Tigers this season. They were the clear victor by a 45-19 margin over Central. The victory was familiar territory for Imperial who now have three in a row.
Nayeli Cardona continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Imperial's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mirella Barron, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Central still got an impressive performance from Mya McClain, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. McClain hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Victoria Zamora was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Imperial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Imperial the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Holtville at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Holtville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1098th, while Imperial is ranked 541st). As for Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Southwest EC at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Southwest EC is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
