Baseball Recap: Augusta Christian Comes Up Short

Augusta Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ben Lippen Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered since April 4, 2024.

Luke Spivey was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Augusta Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-9 when he doesn't). Jordan Sease also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Augusta Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Ben Lippen, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Augusta Christian will venture away from home to challenge Gray Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games the War Eagles have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Ben Lippen, they will head out on the road to face off against Irmo at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
