Baseball Recap: Triton Gets the Win

Triton hadn't done well against LaVille recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Lancers 10-9. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Drew Bingamon made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, two runs, and three stolen bases.

In other batting news, Max Johnson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Brayden Gunnels was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Triton and bumps their season record up to 20-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for LaVille, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Triton will venture away from home to face off against Northridge at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for LaVille, they will head out to square off against Rochester at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
