Basketball Recap: Vistamar Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Vistamar can now relate to. They were dealt a 45-10 defeat at the hands of the La Quinta Aztecs on Saturday. The match marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Leading La Quinta to victory were Katelyn Vo and Kaitlyn Mai. Vo dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards, while Mai went 6-for-9 to rack up 12 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Mai has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Nguyen, who put up four points and five steals.

Vistamar's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for La Quinta, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season.

Vistamar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for La Quinta, they will face off against Serra at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Serra sitting on three straight victories and La Quinta on eight.
