Softball Recap: Montrose Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Early, Montrose was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Weaubleau Tigers with a sharp 14-8 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Jays, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Lainee Swaters was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chelby Fischer, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Montrose always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Montrose has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Weaubleau, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Montrose will take on Stoutland in a tournament on Saturday. The Blue Jays' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 12.7 runs per game this season. As for Weaubleau, they will take on Fair Play at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
