Basketball Game Preview: Chaffey Tigers vs. Montclair Cavaliers

The Chaffey Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Montclair Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Montclair took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Chaffey, who comes in off a win.

Chaffey will head into Wednesday's match on the come-up: they were handed a 36-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 win over Don Lugo. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since December 20, 2024.

Meanwhile, Montclair was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost to Diamond Ranch on the road by a 42-24 margin. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1005th, while the Panthers are ranked 278th).

Montclair's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Chaffey, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.

Chaffey strolled past Montclair in their previous meeting last Monday by a score of 48-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chaffey since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
