Preview: West Branch Warriors vs. Williamsburg Blue Pirates
West Branch is 0-10 against Williamsburg since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The West Branch Warriors will be playing at home against the Williamsburg Blue Pirates at 7:30 p.m. West Branch will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 427th, while Williamsburg is ranked 118th).
Last Thursday, West Branch came up short against Northern Bedford County and fell 43-34.
Meanwhile, Williamsburg came tearing into Thursday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 46-42 victory over Berlin Brothersvalley.
Williamsburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Levada Gorsuch led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds. Gorsuch has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Ayla Hileman was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with two steals and two blocks.
West Branch's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Williamsburg, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with that win, which was their 22nd straight at home.
West Branch suffered a grim 48-25 defeat to Williamsburg when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Gorsuch, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds.
