Texas high school football: Statewide top 25 scoreboard

By Staff Report Oct 3, 2024, 2:30pm

Atascocita at Summer Creek, Coppell at Guyer headline this week's slate.

This week's high school football schedule in Texas is highlighted by a showdown between a pair of undefeated teams among the top 10 in the MaxPreps computer rankings as Atascocita (Humble) heads to Summer Creek (Houston).

Atascocita (4-0) has one of the state's best resumes with wins at Katy and Westlake (Austin), snapping the latter's 44-game home win streak. The Eagles are likely eager to erase memories of a 45-28 to Summer Creek a year ago.

Incredibly, Summer Creek (4-0) hasn't allowed a single point this season, outscoring its first four opponents 215-0. TCU-bound defensive end Chad Woodfork (8 TFLs, 3 sacks) along with juniors Amontre Harris and Tyson Joiner are among the leaders of the Bulldog defense.

In another big game, Coppell will take its 4-0 record to Denton Guyer.

The Coppell offense has been red hot, putting up 72 points two weeks ago in a win over Arlington Bowie and 49 last week in thumping Hebron (Carrollton).

Guyer's only loss came against nationally-ranked North Crowley (Fort Worth) and the Wildcats would love to avenge a loss to Coppell in last year's Class 6A Division II state playoffs.
