Softball Recap: Heritage Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Heritage was forced to take a big defeat against Gilmer on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Thursday. The Generals walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Bobcats. This was a revenge game for the Generals: when they faced off against the Bobcats on Tuesday, they had to take a 16-4 loss.

Bailee Hollis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kinley Eason, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Corvin, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Heritage's win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Gilmer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Heritage is taking a road trip to challenge Ringgold at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gilmer, they will welcome Coahulla Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
