Softball Recap: Omaha Central Comes Up Short

Mercy hit Omaha Central with a six-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monarchs. The Eagles have struggled against the Monarchs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Edie Titus put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Nichole Palfini and Macy Andrews stepped up to the plate in a big way. Palfini went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run, while Andrews went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Ada Jantzen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Omaha Central's record now sits at 13-11. As for Mercy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-21.

Coming up, Omaha Central will head out to take on Millard West at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mercy, they will take on South Sioux City in a tournament on Thursday.
