Basketball Game Preview: Hilltop Lancers vs. Otay Ranch Mustangs

Hilltop is 0-4 against Otay Ranch since January of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Hilltop Lancers will look to defend their home court against the Otay Ranch Mustangs at 6:30 p.m.

Hilltop is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They took a 38-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of Madison.

Meanwhile, Otay Ranch earned a 49-36 win over Escondido Charter last Monday.

Otay Ranch's win came from a few key players Hilltop will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Maleah Porch, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 17 points and six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Daffron, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Otay Ranch has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Hilltop, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
