Recap: Ligonier Valley Rams vs. Windber Ramblers

The Ligonier Valley Rams lost against the Windber Ramblers back in January of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The match between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Ligonier Valley falling 57-43. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 377th, while Windber is ranked 178th).

When it comes to explaining why Ligonier Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lyla Barr. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Barr scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Sydnee Foust, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds.

Windber's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mariah Andrews, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. That's the first time this season that Andrews scored 15 or more points. Kaylie Gaye was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Ligonier Valley and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Windber, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ligonier Valley will challenge Derry at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Windber won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Rockwood at 7:15 p.m. on December 15th.
