Baseball Recap: Washington-Wilkes Wins Going Away Against Greene County

Washington-Wilkes got themselves on the board against Greene County on Tuesday, but Greene County never followed suit. They blew past Greene County 15-0. With that victory, Washington-Wilkes brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Ben Price made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Washington-Wilkes is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-17 otherwise. Price was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Thatcher Meech was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jordan Dawson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Washington-Wilkes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Washington-Wilkes has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-19 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Greene County, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
