Preview: Pleasant Grove Eagles vs. St. Francis Troubadours
Pleasant Grove is 0-10 against St. Francis since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pleasant Grove Eagles will look to defend their home court against the St. Francis Troubadours at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pleasant Grove can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Sheldon as Pleasant Grove made off with a 55-33 victory. The victory was just what Pleasant Grove needed coming off of a 46-16 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, St. Francis scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 95-19 win over Elk Grove at home. That looming 95-19 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for St. Francis yet this season.
St. Francis' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chidera Okoye, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Okoye has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Bria McGahan was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five steals and two blocks.
Pleasant Grove's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for St. Francis, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.
Pleasant Grove came up short against St. Francis in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 58-53. Can Pleasant Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
