Football Recap: Stratford Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

Stratford kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They were outmatched by the Tomball Cougars and fell 43-6. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Cougars are ranked 52nd).

Jaxyn Faldyn was nothing short of spectacular for Tomball: he threw for 185 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 55 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries. What's more, Faldyn posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Ian Thomas was another key player, gaining 97 total yards and a touchdown.

Looking ahead, Stratford will take on Oak Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tomball, they will face off against Cinco Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on September 5.
