Softball Recap: Alva Starts off Right with Win over Hennessey

Alva gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hennessey Eagles a 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Goldbugs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

The result came thanks to Trinity Stevens's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Myka Louthan and Rien Buehrer did most of the damage at the plate: Louthan went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Buehrer went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Cloe Lee was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Alva will square off against Chisholm at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hennessey, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fairview at 4:30 p.m. on the 25th.
