Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monte Vista). Their defense stepped up to hand the Berkeley Yellowjackets a 3-0 shutout on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Monte Vista's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2-1. As for Berkeley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monte Vista will venture away from home to face off against Granada at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Granada's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Berkeley, they will head out to take on Encinal at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Berkeley's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
