Millard North and Lincoln Southwest are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2020, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will face off against the Silver Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Millard North is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Omaha Westside, who was ranked 12th at the time (Millard North was ranked first). The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Warriors a 23-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Millard North got a massive performance out of Tenley Kampbell, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave Kampbell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Macey Jarose, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.
Millard North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha Westside only posted an OBP of .182.
Lincoln Southwest came out on top against Fremont on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Silver Hawks blew past the Tigers 10-0.
Kinley Wubbels looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ja'Sara Wilson and Brenly Noerrlinger did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI, while Noerrlinger went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Brenly Trautman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Millard North's record is now 27-4. As for Lincoln Southwest, their record now sits at 25-2.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Millard North has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .519. However, it's not like Lincoln Southwest struggles in that department as they've averaged .470. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
