Basketball Recap: Academia Avance Comes Up Short

Academia Avance was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Lakeview Charter Lions, falling 66-0.

Lakeview Charter had a senior duo take command as Evelyn Quinonez dropped a double-double on 28 points and 13 steals and Liliana Word went 8 of 15 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Quinonez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Heyli Edwards, who posted ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Academia Avance's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Lakeview Charter, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academia Avance will venture away from home to challenge Torres at 2:30 p.m. on December 17th. As for Lakeview Charter, they will head out to take on Marymount at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marymount's defense has only allowed 22.9 points per game this season, so Lakeview Charter's offense will have their work cut out for them.
