Baseball Recap: Wheeler Comes Up Short

Wheeler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They came up short against the Marietta Blue Devils, falling 8-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-4 last Tuesday.

Kenric Nair was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March.

At the plate, Chase Greenwood was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Wheeler's loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Marietta, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-13.

While Wheeler had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
