Football Game Preview: Central Heights Vikings vs. Council Grove Braves

Central Heights is 0-8 against Council Grove since October of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Vikings will take on the Braves at 6:00 p.m. Central Heights will be strutting in after a victory while Council Grove will be coming in after a loss.

Central Heights took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 32-6 margin over Humboldt.

Chase Bones looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 128 yards and three touchdowns. Those 128 passing yards gave him a new career-high.

Central Heights didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Humboldt to a completion percentage of just 26.7%. The Vikings weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 58.3%.

Meanwhile, Council Grove came up short against Silver Lake on Friday and fell 17-8.

Even if they lost, Council Grove's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Gunner Gleason, Maddox Ziegler, and Bradley Doornbos, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Council Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Central Heights, their record is now 2-6.

Central Heights was dealt a bruising 55-8 loss at the hands of Council Grove in their previous meeting on October 10th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Braves' Luke Stewart, who threw for 164 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 61 yards and one score on only six carries.
