Basketball Recap: Three Straight Home Victories for Brockway

If Johnsonburg wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Brockway, they should've done a better job of containing Rheanna Spinda. The Brockway Rovers took down the Johnsonburg Rams 42-26 on Wednesday thanks in part to Spinda, who went 10 for 19 on her way to 24 points and five steals. She has become a key player for Brockway: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 1-2 otherwise.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kalina Powell, who posted eight points in addition to 15 rebounds and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Brockway's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points per game. As for Johnsonburg, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Brockway and DuBois Central Catholic will compete for holiday cheer on Friday. As for Johnsonburg, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Kane at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
