Preview: Greater Johnstown Trojans vs. River Valley Panthers
The Greater Johnstown Trojans will be home for the holidays to greet the River Valley Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Greater Johnstown is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than River Valley in Pennsylvania (Greater Johnstown is ranked 115th, while River Valley is ranked 231st).
Last Wednesday, Greater Johnstown was beaten by Bishop McCort 66-38. Greater Johnstown was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-23.
Meanwhile, River Valley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. Everything went their way against West Shamokin as River Valley made off with a 60-34 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for River Valley.
Ava Persichetti continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of River Valley's points. Rylee Kitner was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Greater Johnstown's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2. As for River Valley, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
