Softball Recap: The Classical Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Sierra

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask The Classical Academy). Everything went their way against the Sierra Stallions on Thursday as they made off with a 22-4 victory. Considering the Titans have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Basil Murphy was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

The Classical Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sierra only posted an OBP of .333.

The Classical Academy pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Sierra, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

The Classical Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-2 defeat against Widefield on the 26th. As for Sierra, they have also already played their next game, a 14-3 loss against Woodland Park on the 27th.
