Basketball Recap: Coastal Christian Piles Up the Points Against Cuyama Valley

Coastal Christian put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Cuyama Valley Bears 80-3. Fans of the Conquerors have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Coastal Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bristol Machgan, who went 10 of 18 en route to 26 points along with eight steals and six assists. The game was Machgan's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Starkovich, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards.

Coastal Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 35 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 18 offensive boards in nine consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Coastal Christian pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points per game. As for Cuyama Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

After both having extra time off, Coastal Christian and Maricopa will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Coastal Christian's defense has only allowed 7.8 points per game this season, so Maricopa's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Cuyama Valley, they and San Luis Obispo Classical Academy will meet on January 7, 2025 for a tough Bear Battle.
