Basketball Recap: Gustine Takes a Loss

Gustine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-39 heartbreaker at the hands of the Waterford Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Reds of the 50-32 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Gustine still got an impressive performance from *Shandel Aguilera, who dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 11 boards, and 11 steals. The dominant performance also gave Aguilera a new career-high in assists (seven). GWendolyn Barcelos was another key player, going 8 for 19 on her way to 16 points.

Even though they lost, Gustine was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Gustine's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Waterford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

Gustine didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-18 win against Delhi on the 16th. As for Waterford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 40-38 loss against Denair on the 16th.
