Softball Recap: Westview Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Westview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They skirted past the Lincoln Northeast Rockets 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since September 9th.

Pyper Stortz was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kadence Bosan was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Londynn Danner, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Westview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Northeast only posted an OBP of .316.

Westview's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Lincoln Northeast, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-22 record this season.

Westview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lincoln Northeast, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-0 victory against Columbus on the 8th.
