Soccer Game Preview: Clovis East vs. Central

The Clovis East Timberwolves will face off against the Central Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Central took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Clovis East, who comes in off a win.

Clovis East headed into their last game having not scored more than one goal for three straight, but Clovis let them put that streak behind them. Clovis East's defense stepped up to hand Clovis a 4-0 shutout on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Timberwolves were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Clovis North, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 536th, while the Broncos are ranked 113th).

Clovis East's win bumped their record up to 7-5-5. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11-3.

Everything went Clovis East's way against Central when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Clovis East made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clovis East since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
