Basketball Recap: Franklin County Comes Up Short

Franklin County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 69-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maclay Marauders. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (58), the Seahawks still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Franklin County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sadiq Jones almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Ajaylen McNair was another key player, putting up four points and eight assists.

Franklin County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Maclay, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.

Franklin County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 46-44 win against Chipley on the 13th. As for Maclay, they will head out to square off against Brookwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brookwood will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Maclay surely won't give up without a fight.
