Preview: Jim Thorpe Olympians vs. Tamaqua Blue Raiders

Jim Thorpe is 8-2 against Tamaqua since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Jim Thorpe Olympians on the road again and play against the Tamaqua Blue Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. Jim Thorpe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 626th, while Tamaqua is ranked 230th).

Jim Thorpe suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 51-19 loss at the hands of Lehighton. That's two games in a row now that Jim Thorpe has lost by exactly 32 points.

Despite their loss, Jim Thorpe saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kiara Ginopolas, who scored six points, was perhaps the best of all.

Meanwhile, Tamaqua came up short against Lehighton on Monday and fell 44-31.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Lorelei Plasha, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Sarah Hope, who scored 11 points along with four steals.

Jim Thorpe bumped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.6 points per game. As for Tamaqua, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Jim Thorpe took a serious blow against Tamaqua in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 56-26. Can Jim Thorpe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
