Football Recap: Hugo Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Hugo's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Roland Rangers as they made off with a 58-38 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-12.

It was another big night for Jayka Santillan, who threw for 374 yards and four touchdowns while completing 90.5% of his passes. Those 374 passing yards gave him a new career-high.

Hugo didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Roland to a completion percentage of just 41.7%. The team can thank Payton McClain for the heroic effort on defense: he. Hugo has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.64 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.64 in their last three games.

Despite the loss, Roland still got an impressive performance from Paul Johnson, who picked up 138 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 71 yards and one score. Kayden Hartt was another key player, throwing for 159 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Hugo's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5. As for Roland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Coming up, Hugo will head out on the road to face off against Kingston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Redskins' defense has only allowed 14.6 points per game this season, so the Buffaloes' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Roland, they will host Prague at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rangers will be up against the Red Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
