Basketball Recap: North East Finds Home Court Redemption Against Union City

There's no place like home for North East, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They snuck past the Union City Bears with a 59-54 victory on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Grape Pickers: when they faced off against the Bears back in January, they had to take a 49-48 defeat.

When it comes to explaining why Union City lost, don't look at Ava Greer. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Brooke Vantassel, who posted 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

North East has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points over those games. As for Union City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Looking ahead, North East will take on Mercyhurst Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Union City, they will challenge Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
