Baseball Recap: Stockbridge Comes Up Short

Stockbridge came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-5 to the Locust Grove Wildcats. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in March of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Stockbridge got a good showing from Sam Waters, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Waters has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Casey McBride made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Stockbridge's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Locust Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

While Stockbridge had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday.
