Basketball Recap: Chester Extends Winning Streak to Five

Chester waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-57 win over the Upper Moreland Bears. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Clippers were down 34-19 in the second quarter.

Chester's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ja'Mya Muhammad, who went 11 for 15 en route to 28 points and five steals. Muhammad has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Imani Dorsey, who went 7 of 16 to rack up 18 points along with seven assists and five blocks.

Chester pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34 points. As for Upper Moreland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Looking ahead, Chester won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Executive Education Academy Charter School at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Executive Education Academy Charter School will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Chester surely won't give up without a fight. Upper Moreland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
