Basketball Game Preview: Pleasant Grove Eagles vs. Elk Grove Thundering Herd

The Pleasant Grove Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Elk Grove Thundering Herd at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pleasant Grove will be strutting in after a victory while Elk Grove will be coming in after a defeat.

Pleasant Grove is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They snuck past Sheldon with a 65-61 win on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Elk Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They came up short against Cosumnes Oaks, falling 47-25. While losing is never fun, the Thundering Herd can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 997th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 463rd).

Pleasant Grove is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points per game. As for Elk Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.

Pleasant Grove strolled past Elk Grove in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 35-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pleasant Grove since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
