Soccer Game Preview: Lathrop vs. Beyer

Lathrop is 1-8-1 against Beyer since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Lathrop Spartans will host the Beyer Patriots at 6:15 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Lathrop is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Central Valley, falling 10-0. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 975th, while the Hawks are ranked 92nd).

Despite a strong season so far, Beyer has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Ceres.

Lathrop's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Beyer, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3.

Lathrop beat Beyer by a goal in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 2-1. Does Lathrop have another victory up their sleeve, or will Beyer turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
