Basketball Recap: Roncalli Catholic Comes Up Short

Roncalli Catholic lost against Bennington back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Roncalli Catholic Crimson Pride came up short against the Bennington Badgers, falling 65-43. While losing is never fun, the Crimson Pride can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Badgers are ranked 17th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bennington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Skylar Johnson, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points and three steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Macie Reiner was another key player, going 6 for 7 on her way to 12 points and five boards.

Roncalli Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Bennington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roncalli Catholic will host Bishop Neumann at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bennington, they will face off against Duchesne at 7:00 p.m. on February 20th.
