Basketball Recap: Desert Mountain Skates Past Independence with Ease

With a playoff win on the line, Desert Mountain rose to the challenge on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Independence Patriots 52-24. The Wolves not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since January 7th (when they won 91-19).

Desert Mountain found their leader in sophomore Hayden Seaman, who shot 56% from the field en route to 22 points and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Seaman. Kirah Hall also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Desert Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2025.

The victory (which was Desert Mountain's third in a row) raised their record to 15-12. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Coming up, Desert Mountain will venture away from home to face off against Cienega at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Independence does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
