Softball Recap: McAlester Takes a Loss

McAlester extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-5. They lost 7-1 to the Bishop Kelley Comets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buffaloes of the 4-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2018.

As for Bishop Kelley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

For Bishop Kelley's part, Kamdyn Berry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Ellie Deao was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. Ximena Coronado was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, McAlester will host Del City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bishop Kelley, they are taking a road trip to take on Berryhill at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
