Basketball Recap: Murrieta Valley Comes Up Short

Murrieta Valley and Chaparral squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Murrieta Valley had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Chaparral Pumas by a score of 48-45. The Nighthawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pumas earlier this season, when they won 48-47.

Chaparral found their leader in sophomore Zetta Faasua, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 boards. Faasua has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last 15 times she's played. Maya Ford was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards.

Murrieta Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Chaparral, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-10.

Murrieta Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chaparral, they will take on Pacifica Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chaparral is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season.
